What a better way to write my first post from my blackberry than about the app which I installed to do so.
When I am done with my days work I normally play with my blackberry. And this is the time when I look to add to my blog. Wordpress app looked good to download. It was a smooth installation except for the permission. It asked for extended permission which I was initially not comfortable in providing. But ultimately had to provide the permission as it will not work otherwise. This is something the app deveveloper can look into.
Next I also had to enable the xml-rpc publishing protocol on the blog site.
That’s it ! You are ready to roll with your blog from your blackberry.
The app is also there for iphone.
Last night a friend of mine pinged me and said that Apple had released a new IPad. I casually took it as IPod thinking it as another typo.
But no it was not to be , it was really an IPad , the new tablet computer from Apple. Then started our conversation on what use will it be in the world of IPhone, IPods and Laptops. We really were not able to figure out initially why Apple came out with this product. But I was sure that there has to be a bigger picture. And some thing came to my mind. We just needed to think beyond our conventional web world.
It looks more like a IPod of the size of a laptop.
Apple IPad
First thing which had come to my mind was ATM. Cant these be placed at gas stations and restaurants for a quick net surfing. Priced at $499 it is really a cheap alternative where you dont want to place too many dektop pieces and also placing laptops will look a bit awkward.
Lets take an example of a coffee house. You can place them there for a quick videos on the table. In fact the restaurants can surely have theme day specially on finals of major sporting events.
The other aspect which came to my mind was it usefullness in remote areas, such as villages. Some time back an experiment was done by placing desktops and keyboards inside a hole for the village kids to touch and feel the computer’s which they have never seen before.
The study provided a good response. Now with these tablets I think studies of these type can really take the computer to the actual mass rather than just the cities. I wish them a very best.
Surely the automobile industry can think of something good for their cars also using the IPads.
I do believe that IPad will do to tablets what IPod did to mp3 players.
Lets wait and see !! I am surely waiting !!
